Age of MIssoula's Public Schools

Age of Missoula County Public Schools

*1909 Lowell School
*1910 Hawthorne School

*1930 Cold Springs School

 *1951 Washington Middle School
*1951 Jefferson School (now used for arts and music as well as for pre-school education)
*1955 Lewis and Clark School – now being converted to an International Baccalaureate Program school) see www.truthaboutib.com
*1955 Roosevelt School (Sold in 2005 to a private school St. Josephs School – a catholic school) – (Good Schools Missoula vs. Missoula County Public Schools lawsuit challenged the sale, however, the primary issue was not resolved, only the district protocol on where to take a complaint against the district)
*1960 Rattlesnake School
*1960 Emma Dickinson School –( now used for adult education)
*1961 Russell School
1966 C.S. Porter (believe it was a K-8 school)
1967 Meadow Hill – (always a middle school)
*1979 Mount Jumbo School – (now leased to Walla Walla College, a 7th Day Adventist school for a Masters in Social Work program)
*1992 Paxson School (original building was imploded and was built in 1922 I believe)
1995 Chief Charlo School (always for K-5 students)
Believe 1912  Lincoln School – Sold in 1996 to Lincoln School Baptist Church and subsequently sold for a subdivision)
1935 Central School – sold to Missoula Community Theater

1908 Hellgate High School (formerly Missoula County High School)
1922 Willard Alternative High School (formerly Willard Elementary  School)
1956 Sentinel High School
1956 Seeley Swan High School
1980 Big Sky High School
IMPORTANT NOTES
*5 elementary schools are older than Prescott and 2 schools are the same age, for a total of 7 schools out of 18. 

*Additionally, 5 other grade schools were built within 10 years after Prescott was built for a total of 12 out of 18 schools.  Only 6 schools have been built since 1961.  Therefore, the vast majority of our schools are about the same age or older than Prescott School.
